The Beatles played their second Ed Sullivan show from Miami Beach.

In February 1964, one week after their record-breaking American debut, the Beatles landed in Miami to thousands of screaming fans and checked into the Deauville at 6701 Collins Avenue. On February 16 they played the hotel's Napoleon Ballroom for the Ed Sullivan cameras, six songs including She Loves You and I Want To Hold Your Hand, with an estimated seventy million people watching from home.

February 1964, one week after New York

For one week Miami Beach was the center of the pop universe. The band swam, fished, posed under the palms and met a young boxer named Cassius Clay training down the street. The Deauville itself is gone now, demolished in 2022, but that stretch of Collins keeps the story.
