The Cachito Files
What is a cachito? The breakfast Miami keeps quiet.
· 3 min read · Miami Beach
Ask a Venezuelan what they miss about home and the cachito comes up fast. It is a soft, slightly sweet bread roll, baked golden, traditionally wrapped around chopped ham. In Caracas it is what you grab with a coffee before work. In Miami, it is the breakfast the people in line already know about.
Cachito vs croissant
A croissant is laminated: layers of dough and butter folded until they shatter when you bite. A cachito is a soft bread, closer to a brioche in spirit, with the filling baked inside rather than added after. Croissant is crisp and flaky. Cachito is warm and pillowy. There is no wrong answer, which is why we bake both.
